since it is a dual spring assembly and the only place to put the additional spring is inside on top of the valve guide boss. If you want 80 lbs installed pressure, Ferrea is currently your only choice. Plenty of people have installed them without machining their heads, and as far as I know this has been without issue. But, that doesn't prove the inner valve spring is not over stressed.
The point I was trying to make in my former post was: with a little effort, the Ferrea spring package can be optimized to distribute the overall stress better between both springs and improve their durability and ability to maintain their installed pressure.
